The Fender Select Series Telecaster Carved Top is a seriously special take on one of Fender’s most iconic designs, combining classic Telecaster character with the kind of premium appointments normally associated with Fender’s higher-end instruments. Made in the USA, this striking Tele features a lightweight Empress body topped with a beautifully carved flame maple top, finished in a rich Amber gloss lacquer that really lets the figuring come alive. The flame maple neck and fingerboard feature a comfortable Modern “C” profile and a 9.5″–14″ compound radius, giving it an exceptionally smooth playing feel from the first fret right up the neck. A pair of Fender Select single-coil pickups deliver the crisp, articulate Tele tones you’d expect, while the no-load tone control lets the bridge pickup run with its full, uncoloured character when wide open. Add the Bi-Flex truss rod, 22 medium-jumbo frets, American Tele bridge with bent steel saddles, locking tuners and premium appointments throughout, and you’ve got a Tele that sits firmly in collector and serious-player territory. The Select Series was Fender’s opportunity to push production instruments into more luxurious territory, and this Carved Top is a particularly beautiful example of that idea.
